Watch Cairo Time is a 2009 film by Canadian director Ruba Nadda. It is a drama about a happily married wife of a Canadian diplomat who is seduced by Egypt and begins an affair with her host. This movie won the “Best Canadian Feature Film” at the Toronto International Film Festival 2009.
Juliette (Patricia Clarkson) on Watch Cairo Time Free is a magazine editor who arrives in Egypt to meet up with her husband Mark (Tom McCamus). At the airport, she meets Tareq (Alexander Siddig), a retired Egyptian police officer and long-time friend of her husband. He tells her that Mark has been delayed in Gaza. He tells her that Mark is fine and that he would call her. He guides Juliette out of the airport but suddenly they hear a woman call Tareq’s name. They walk to the woman and Tareq has a little conversation with her in Arabic. The woman, named Yasmeen (Amina Annabi), is an old friend of Tareq tells him that daughter is going to marry an Egyptian man. She invites Tareq and Juliette to her wedding in Alexandria. She end up saying in Arabic that she missed Tareq and that she never forgot him. They get in the cab and drive through Cairo to Juliette’s hotel. When they arrive at the hotel, Tareq gives her phone card in case she needs something. She then goes to her bedroom and looks out on Cairo city.

In the middle of the night on Watch Cairo Time Movie, Mark calls. He says that he’s still busy working in the Gaza. She spends the rest of the day in the hotel. The next day she decides to go into Cairo alone, however she notes that all the man are looking at her. After a while a group of man begins to follow her. In panic she flees into a shop. The shopkeeper saw what happened and sends the men away. At the end of the day she eats dinner alone in the hotel restaurant. The next day she meets Tareq playing Chess in a coffee shop. She says that she’s going crazy and remembering that her husband warned her about wandering alone in the streets of Cairo. She also says that she’s been followed by men. Tareq invites her to go and see the Pyramids of Gizeh but Juliette says that she made a promise with Mark that they would go and see the Pyramids together. He then invites her to take a walk with him. In the evening, she goes to a party organized by the hotel. There she meets Kathryn (Elena Anaya), who has a boyfriend working in the UN. In the morning Juliette sit with some women at the table. They say that they heard that there was an outburst in Gaza. Juliette replies that it’s not so bad, looking a little nervous. When she walks away Kathryn comforts her. She then takes her to her family who live outside of Cairo near Farafra Oasis.
The next day Tareq on Watch Cairo Time Online meets Juliette in the hotel’s lobby room. They decide to explore. They take a boat trip on the Nile. In the evening they sit on a terrace. Again in the middle of the night, Mark calls asking her how she’s doing. Juliette asks when he comes but Mark says he’s still very busy. In the morning she take a bus that goes to Gaza. She sits next to a Egyptian woman and they end up talking to each other. Suddenly the bus stops and they see soldiers walking outside. The woman next to asks Juliette if she want to deliver something to a friend of hers, she then takes an envelope and puts in into Juliette’s purse. Then two soldiers enter the bus, asking people to show their passport. When Juliette’s shows her passport, the soldier ask her what’s she’s doing here. Juliette answers that she wants to see her husband who works for the UN. The soldiers takes her out of the bus and says that the bus won’t go any further and that she has to call someone to pick her up. Tareq drives her to her hotel room and says that Mark will contact her in her hotel room. When Mark calls she apologizes and saying that she wanted to see him. Again she asks him when he’s coming but still he doesn’t know when he’s off-duty. After hanging up the phone she softly begins to cry. When the maid comes asking if she’s okay she says that she’s fine and thanks her for her concern.
Streaming Watch Cairo Time
Alone, she visits the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and a Bazaar. Then she goes to the coffee shop to see Tareq and then ends up playing Chess with him. When they walk together Juliette tells Tareq about the woman in the bus. Tareq takes the letter and says that she should not get involved with the matter. The next day they go to Alexandria, where they will go the wedding of Yasmeen’s daugther. The next day Tareq guides her through Cairo, walking through a garden, a Bazaar and going into shops. They also go to a jeweler’s shop where Tareq buys a necklace for her with Tareq’s name in Egyptian Hieroglyphs. When they got back at the hotel Tareq kisses Juliette but they quickly stop because Juliette has to get into the elevator.
The next day on Streaming Watch Cairo Time Juliette decides that she wants to see the Pyramids of Gizeh and with Tareq. When they come back at the hotel, Mark has arrived hugging and kissing Juliette. When they get into the elevator she looks at Tareq with a sad look. When Mark and Juliette are in the cab Mark says that he missed her and ask her if it’s his name on the necklace. Juliette smiles but doesn’t answer while tears swell up in her eyes. When they arrive at the Pyramids of Gizeh they get out of the cab, walking side by side with arms around each other.
